A midsummer night’s dream: The Globe Theatre at Villa Borghese. Everybody knows Villa Borghese. But maybe what everyone does not know is that inside there is one of Rome’s most beautiful parks. Here, during the summer you can see theatrical performances in the Globe Theatre, an Elizabethan theatre which reproduces the characteristic “wooden O” of the original Globe in London. The theatre was inspired by the famous Elizabethan theatre in London and opened in 2003 to mark the hundredth anniversary of Villa Borghese. It was funded by the Toti foundation. The rich programme of major theatrical works is under the artistic direction of the great actor-director Gigi Proietti.
