Insider a Venezia
The Peggy Guggenheim Collection

The thing that makes this museum special is that it reflects the cosmopolitan, avant-garde spirit of its founder, who played a big part in the history of the city. Peggy Guggenheim was an eclectic figure who made a key contribution to 20th century art. The personal collection of the great American patron of the arts is now housed in Palazzo Vernier dei Leoni, an 18th century architectural masterpiece that was never completed. The permanent collection contains stunning examples of cubism, European and American abstract art and works by the greatest masters of the 20th century, such as Picasso, Braque, de Chirico and Brancusi. Temporary exhibitions that attract global attention are also held in the building, which was once the private home of Peggy Guggenheim. No visitor to Venice should miss out on a trip to the museum, which is at 704 Dorsoduro.
